Amazon has pioneered many great products over the years. The e-commerce giant is now looking to become your personal alarm clock. But Amazon is doing it differently. Instead of that annoying alarm sound, the company wants you to wake up to soothing music every morning. The alarm feature will be available on any Alexa device.

Amazon says that your Alexa device can be set to wake you up every morning using music from your favorite streaming service. A number of streaming services are supported including Amazon Prime Music and Amazon Music Unlimited. Other streaming services include Pandora, Spotify, TuneIn, iHeartRadio, and SiriusXM.

You will be able to choose the alarm music the same way you request any music when using Alexa devices. For example, you can set a specific song for your alarm or select a genre of choice. Amazon Music clients will also have the chance to request songs based on their mood. The feature will allow users to create their own custom playlists too.

The great thing is that you won’t need to configure the device every time you go to sleep. Let’s say for example that you want to wake at 5 AM every day. The only thing you need is to request Alexa to wake you at 5 AM every day and set the kind of music you want to wake up to.

Although the alarm feature is designed to work on all Alexa devices, Fire TV will not be able to support it. Amazon says that it’s very difficult to integrate alarms on TVs because they are normally switched off when people go to sleep.

But why is Amazon putting so many resources in this alarm feature anyway?

Well, the company says that it’s simply responding to customer requests. The online retailer notes that many Alexa device owners have constantly requested to have the ability to set music alarms on their devices. The company added that this was actually the most requested feature by Alexa users in the recent months. There is, therefore, a real need in the market and the alarm is likely to receive a positive response from users in the coming weeks.

However, it’s not the first time that Amazon is trying to integrate alarm features into its devices. The company previously launched the Echo Spot alarm clock to tap into this market. In addition to this, there are many Alexa users who had already started using the Echo Dot as an alarm in the bedroom.

The e-commerce giant is hoping that the new alarm feature will help attract more users towards its devices. Amazon has worked very hard to push its Echo hardware and other Alexa devices this year. The company has offered massive discounts to help move the products. To some extent, things are working. Amazon confirmed that the Echo Dot was one of the best-selling products during the Black Friday sales holiday this year. The e-commerce giant has also confirmed that it will continue to sell these devices at relatively discounted prices moving forward. These discounts will apply to all Echo devices.
