Recent insights have unveiled more about Apple's potential foldable MacBook. The tech giant is reportedly making significant strides in developing a foldable device that could revolutionize the market.

Apple might ship over 1 million devices with a 20-inch folding screen by 2026, a year earlier than its previous prediction of 2027. Here is a comprehensive look at what we know so far about this exciting development. Read and discover more.

Details On The Foldable MacBook

Apple supply chain analyst Ming-Chi Kuo suggests that a 20-inch display is likely, and Apple is also considering an 18.8-inch option. When folded, the 20-inch model will resemble a 14- to 15-inch MacBook, and the 18.8-inch version will look like a 13- to 14-inch MacBook.

Apple is collaborating with LG Display to achieve a nearly crease-free folding screen, ensuring a seamless user experience. The expected features include Apple's m5 processor, and the production timeline could begin by the end of next year.

Historical Context And Predictions

In 2022, supply chain analyst Ross Young first hinted at Apple's 20-inch foldable. Bloomberg's Mark Gurman later confirmed this, mentioning that this iPad/MacBook hybrid might have a dual-screen display without a physical keyboard or trackpad.

The Korean publication The Elec outlined a possible timeline for Apple's foldable devices. According to it, work on foldables would begin after an OLED display is introduced to the iPad or MacBook. With the OLED iPad Pro now available, foldable devices may be the next focus.

Other Foldable Product Developments

Apple is also rumored to be developing other foldable products. Reports from February indicate that Apple is working on at least two folding iPhone prototypes that close horizontally. Additionally, Apple is reportedly in the early stages of developing a folding iPad, focusing on eliminating visible creases—a challenge that Samsung is still addressing.
